ဂ်ပန္ ဓါးေျမွာင္ ဒုတိယ ကမာၻစစ္

Japanese Tanto
Late Meji early Showa
full polish fine harmon
old Shirasaya

A finely polished Japanese Tanto in timber and horn Shirasaya.

The overall length is just under 37cms. Drawn it is just over 35cms. The blade 24cms including the habaki.
The blade shows a very fine and clear harmon. The spine has a raised medial ridge through to the tip and a deep fuller is seen to both sides of the blade just below the spine.
The tang is clearly and strongly signed and has to the reverse an engraving of someones initials.
The shirasaya dress has black horn ends and fine timber dress. The peg through the tang is finished with bone.

An attractive well priced and seldom seen Japanese Tanto that likely saw military use in WWI and or WWII.
